Endesa will be able to control all of its wind and solar installations in Spain from its Santiago de Compostela office. This initiative is part of the package of measures that the Company is putting in place to minimise the impact that the spread of COVID-19 may have on its activity. With this in mind, Enel Green Power Spain (EGPE), Endesa's renewable energy subsidiary, has replicated its Madrid control centred and set up a second control room in its Santiago office.
From the Santiago control room, Enel Green Power Spain will be in a position to remotely monitor and operate the 3,000 MW of wind and solar power that it currently manages from its control centre located in Madrid. Specifically, more than 2,600 generation units are managed remotely, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including wind turbines and solar inverters, as well as more than 100 electricity evacuation substations associated with EGPE's 115 wind and solar plants.
By duplicating the Madrid control centre in this way, Endesa reduces the consequences that a possible coronavirus infection among its operators would have, and at the same time ensures a second location to operate its assets from remotely, thus minimising the damage that the COVID-19 crisis could have on its activity.
